King’s is looking to appoint a general catering assistant to work within a team of 27 staff in the catering department. Working in a modern well-equipped environment this position assists the delivery of catering on a daily basis during term time.
As part of the catering team the general catering assistant will set up, serve and clear lunch, as well as helping prepare hospitality trolleys. They will also assist in the cleaning of the dining hall, servery and plate wash as required.
Person Specification
The successful candidate should have:
· The ability to work within a team in a fast-paced, pressurised catering environment whilst maintaining high standards.
· Good communication skills with an approachable manner - contact with pupils and staff is on a daily basis and maintaining open communication is essential.
· experience of catering is desirable, but full training can be provided.
· Basic knowledge of food hygiene would be an advantage but full training can be offered.
Terms and conditions
· Start date: as soon as possible
· Salary: £12,191 pa
· Normal working hours: 30 hours per week, 9.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday, across 36 weeks of the year. Flexibility in working times is required to suit business demands.
· This is mainly a term-time position
· 20 Working days’ annual paid holiday plus statutory English public holidays (pro rata) – personal holiday can only be taken during the normal school holidays.
· Contributory pension scheme
· Programme of health benefits
· Subsidised membership of the King’s Sports Club.
· Uniform is provided
· Non-guaranteed overtime is available throughout the year once core hours are complete.
