Urban Meadows is an established and growing landscape design, construction and maintenance business, based in London. We have several teams building and maintaining gardens and outside spaces for high-end residential clients in South West London.
Our existing Maintenance Manager is off to explore some open spaces in Australia for the foreseeable future, so we are looking to recruit a full-time Garden Maintenance Manager. You will manage a team of 2 gardeners, as well as rolling your sleeves up and doing some Garden Maintenance yourself on a daily basis. You will work closely with the Company Director to ensure an excellent standard of maintenance of client gardens and outside spaces.

You will gain valuable experience, working in unique, high specification private gardens in London. The ideal candidate will be experienced and qualified in garden maintenance / horticulture. Responsibilities:
- Effective management of the garden maintenance diary, to ensure clients and gardeners know of visits in advance.
- Garden maintenance
- Working alongside, leading and coordinating our team of 2 gardeners at any one time
- Ensure the maintenance teams have the appropriate tools and materials for each job they are attending.
- Grow the garden maintenance business, increasing the number of teams in operation throughout the year and the number of regular maintenance clients.
- Responsible for the accurate recording of materials and plants purchased and tools hired etc. To allow for the accurate invoicing to clients.
- Keep in regular contact with existing clients, to build trusting relationships and to discuss their garden maintenance requirements, responding appropriately to any queries – so they always feel valued.
- Meet with new or prospective clients and follow-up with a client maintenance schedule and T and Cs.
- Working as part of a team, communicating regularly with the Company Director and Office Manager, to ensure Garden Maintenance runs on time and to budget.
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance within the garden maintenance teams.
Essential Attributes:
- A positive ‘can-do’ attitude – willing to go the extra mile.
- A proven background in horticulture and Garden Maintenance.
- A self-starter – with a strong business development mind-set.
- Methodical – excellent at organisation, planning-ahead and project management.
- Assertive
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Discerning eye for detail and design
- Good physical fitness and prepared to work in all weather conditions
- Comfortable working alone as well as part of a team.
- Ability to build relationships and to gain the respect and trust of clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- A full, clean UK driving license is required and experience of driving in Central London would be beneficial.
Starting salary commensurate with experience.
