Asylum Links EU* is a voluntary organisation which seeks to increase and improve access to information about asylum, housing and medical services in Europe; sharing information with migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in camps and urban areas. Our clients are mainly citizens of Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Eritrea and Sudan, speaking Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Tigrinya, Kurmanji, Sorani, English and French. They live in uncertainty, and sometimes, in destitution.
We link migrants to services, and we collect the information our clients want to know but cannot access. Our Facebook page operates as a platform for the refugee and migrant communities to request and receive information about their rights and the choices available to them during the asylum process. We publish information entirely according to the questions and feedback we receive from our audience about the issues that are most important to them, exclusively in the languages of the communities we are working with. We are passionate about establishing and sustaining links with local organisations and communities in the countries in which we operate, to ensure that information is shared as widely as possible.
We undertake casework both directly and online and conduct research to provide information (both requested by refugees and provided by official sources) about asylum choices in Europe. We aim to bridge the substantial gaps that exist on the ground by distributing translated documentation and links so that refugees can make informed choices about their future. We piloted a program offering information services in the Calais Jungle until its eviction and directly distributed information to an estimated 18000 people throughout Northern Greece and the Attica region. We are now starting to work with residents of the CAO hospitality centres in France and will begin to do the same in Italy in 2022.
*Asylum Links EU is a Charitable fund under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund (UK charity no. 1099682)
**Migration is a positive development intervention that alleviates poverty worldwide, even accordingly to the World Bank
