We are looking for a positive, reliable and sensitive person to join our great team looking after our lovely 24-year- old daughter. The position is full time covering up to 30 hours per week. However, it would be great to have some flexibility to help cover other team members’ shifts during holidays/ sickness too.
Her rare genetic condition means she is cortically blind, has intractable epilepsy and uses a wheelchair. She is happy, warm and sociable. She loves to be out and about and enjoys music, dancing, massage, cafes, yoga, walks, good food and swimming. She communicates non-verbally. She lives in her own flat and is supported by a team of support workers.
The candidate must have experience of working in a health, social, education or family care setting and be reliable, dependable, caring and motivated. It would be great if they share some of our daughter’s interests. It would be useful to have previous experience working with people with learning difficulties and epilepsy, although full training will be given to the right person. A driving licence is essential.
We offer excellent training and support and the hourly rate is £14 plus 6-weeks’ holiday. (Full-time equivalent based on a 37.5-hour £26000 per annum).
