Desired experience: Previously supported a gifted child before and ideally a background in a behavioral based approach (Early Start Denver model)
Start Date:  as soon as possible
Days and Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Tyler is an affectionate, happy and extremely bright 2-year-old. He does not have a formal diagnosis but is almost certainly gifted and also somewhere on the autistic spectrum. Tyler finds social situations difficult, specifically giving eye contact and engaging in imaginative play. Tyler can lack focus and concentration, particularly when asked to take part in non-preferred activities. Tyler is hyperlexic and does show obsessive tendencies, especially with numbers and letters. He also has a huge vocabulary for his age!
This position will be a mixture of sole charge as well as working closely alongside the family. You will play a key role in organizing stimulating activities for Tyler, supporting his therapy sessions and taking and picking him up from nursery. The family is also exploring the possibility of the SEN Nanny being Tyler’s one to one at nursery. If this is not possible the family will have some errands for you to complete whilst Tyler is at Nursery; such as cooking, tidying up after cooking, keeping Tyler’s area tidy and running light errands.
This job will suit someone who has a calm, nurturing approach and who is looking to make a long-term commitment. This is a role where flexibility and fluidity will be appreciated. You must have a willingness to collaborate and learn new things and be happy for the role to evolve should the family expand. Ideally English should be your first language in order to support Tyler’s already extensive vocabulary. It would also be an advantage if you were open to travelling abroad with the family. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have experience with social skills and an interest in behavioural therapy/ Early Start Denver model, all training can be provided.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with an extremely friendly and down to earth family who are very open to ideas and suggestions. The family has a love for art and music so if you share similar interests this would be a bonus! The family are currently located near Royal Oak station, but will be moving to Hampstead in the next few months.
