Mental Health and Mental Capacity Law
Based in Dulwich, South London Abbotstone Law is a leader in Mental Health Law. We are offering an exciting opportunity to work in our successful team providing our solicitors with full time administrative support. Our specialism covers advisory work and representation in the area of Mental Health, Judicial Review and Court of Protection Health and Welfare. There will be an opportunity to assist solicitors, who work on high profile cases that have progressed up to the appellate courts producing reported legal judgments.
We hold Legal Aid Agency contracts in mental health law and are also instructed by privately funded individuals.
The Role
By providing excellent administration, you’ll help our team to really focus on our clients. Previous experience is not essential because full training will be provided although practical experience of a similar role would be an advantage. The ability to make a difference to our solicitors and clients makes this an extremely important role and would suit someone who has a genuine interest in helping clients receive an exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
- Initial point of telephone contact for all enquiries
- Contacting clients and third parties by telephone to arrange appointments further case enquiries
- Dealing with incoming correspondence via post, DX and secure e-mail and its distribution to our team of solicitors
- Maintaining our central diary and internal directories
- Assisting the Partners with the day to day running of the office to ensure the smooth and effective running of the office
- Recording incoming/outgoing files
- DX
- Filing
- Preparation of bundles
- Opening and closing files on computer databases
- Assisting with internal billing procedures
- Management of archiving procedure
- Helping arrange training sessions

- Previous experience of case management systems would be desirable but not necessary
- Good standard of education including 5 GCSEs/O Level at Grade C or above (to include English and Mathematics
- Strong numeracy skills, previous experience with a law firm accounts team would be desirable but not necessary
- A UK driving licence is desirable but not necessary
