A full time carer/PA is required to join a small dedicated team providing care and support in the family home in North London for a young disabled man. He has quadriplegic cerebral palsy with a resulting high level of physical and speech disabilities but, despite these difficulties, he attended mainstream school and enjoys a busy life.
The purpose of the role is to enable this young man to achieve the quality of life that others take for granted. It involves working both alone and with others, giving full personal care (oral feeding and hydration, bathing, toileting), carrying out a simple physical programme, and facilitating him to communicate, to socialise, to follow his many interests and to accompany him on trips and holidays.
Previous caring experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given, but patience and a sense of humour are mandatory! You must be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling in situations away from the home. You will need to be able and willing to work on a 2 week shift pattern which includes weekends, and to go away on trips. A flexible approach and commitment to remaining in the post are essential.
You will need to have a valid clean driving licence, and the right to work in the UK.
The starting rate of pay is £12.00 per hour. This will increase after a probationary period.
To apply, respond with your full CV, personal statement and 2 references, plus proof of DBS if applicable.
If you have not had a reply within 2 weeks please assume you have not been successful this time.
