Eastside Youth is a new youth work charity, that started in January 2022 and is based in East London aiming to change the lives of young people and has been set up in response to the massive and severe funding cuts and closures of youth services across East London, leaving young people with lack of services and feeling isolated in a time where young people already feel segregated from society with no real voice.
#YouthWorkChangesLives and at Eastside Youth we aim to facilitate that change by giving young people aged 11 to 19 years old based in East London the tools and skills to lead active and independent lives by providing interactive and engaging structured youth activities, training opportunities and support that will help improve their physical, mental, emotional, social and educational well-being.
We are looking for both full time and part time short term unpaid interns and volunteers to join Eastside Youth in one of our Youth Work Internships over a 3-6 month period to help our new youth charity become a huge success and reach out to young people across East London.
1. Lead Youth Worker Position
In this leadership role you will need to possess both people and leadership skills and qualities as you will be responsible to running youth work sessions, including planning, organising and delivering activities for young people aged anywhere between 11 and 19 years old, as well as supervising, coaching and supporting a small team of volunteer youth workers.
This role is ideally suited for either an experienced youth worker or someone with experience of working with young people, who wants leadership/management experience or an experienced manager seeking youth work experience. This role will give you both hands on and practical experience in youth work and leadership and will look fantastic on your CV for all future inspiring leaders.
2. Youth Worker Position
In this front line operational role you will need to possess both people and communications skills and qualities as you will be responsible to running youth work sessions, including planning, organising and delivering activities for young people aged anywhere between 11 and 19 years old, ensuring young people are safe, assisting the Lead Worker with their duties and ensuring young people have an amazing experience while attending Eastside Youth.
You don’t need youth work experience for this role, but you do need to be able to juggle multiple tasks, deal with different situations or crisis’, think on your feet, be very confident and able to present/communicate with young people on their level.
This role will give you both hands on and practical experience in youth work and will look fantastic on your CV for all future inspiring youth workers or those seeking to work with people.
PLEASE NOTE: The majority of our Youth Work takes place during the evening and on weekends in line with when young people are available.

1. Can do attitude and solution focused.
2. Fantastic people skills (Friendly, Approachable, Confident and Communication/Presentation).
3. Excellent time keeping and punctuality.
4. Organised and able to get on with tasks easily.
5. Good standard of reading and writing.
6. Good understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding/child protection and equal opportunities.
7. Ability to commit to either full time or part time, short term over a 3-6 month period, flexible including evenings and weekends in line with our core service hours.
