The role
Glasshouse Salon is an organic hair salon and shop situated in the creative community of Netil House in Hackney. We have been established for four years and have made a name for ourselves as the go-to spot for modern, uncomplicated cuts and colour using only organic and natural products, minimising the use of harsh chemicals. Our popular online journal, Glasshouse Journal, has a loyal readership and an array of curated content, from beauty and fashion to food, photography and wellbeing. Glasshouse Shop is our online destination stocking a range of cult natural and organic brands. We pride ourselves on our sustainable, transparent philosophy and strong aesthetic principles.
We have an opportunity for a driven and detail-orientated individual to take on the role of Front of House Manager/Creative Content Assistant. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in every aspect of the Glasshouse brand, whilst running an organised and efficient front of house. This is a salon-based position that requires a high level of customer service and team-management skills. We are looking for someone with a real interest in our core values - organic hair and beauty, wellbeing and sustainability. Creatively, this role offers plenty of opportunities to create original content - from stories for Glasshouse Journal, imagery for our social platforms or photography for Glasshouse Shop.
You will work closely alongside our Business and Communications Manager as well as the small but close-knit salon team.
Responsibilities
Front of house:
- Running the salon reception: taking bookings, answering the phone, managing the email account, greeting clients and generally assisting the team.
- Constantly helping to maintain high salon standards in regards to cleanliness, customer service and daily staff tasks.
- Ensuring staff remain on schedule and communicating effectively with clients.
- Assisting Business and Communications Manager with targets, reports and rotas where necessary.
- Dealing with and resolving any client complaints.
- Attending and contributing to weekly staff meetings.
Stock management/E-commerce:
- Fulfilling online orders on Glasshouse Shop: packaging, posting and responding to any customer queries.
- Maintaining an accurate stock inventory both in the salon and online at Glasshouse Shop.
- Placing orders with our suppliers and ensuring regular stock takes are undertaken across all product lines.
Creative:
- Scheduling and posting of social media content across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
- Responding to social media engagement and assisting the Glasshouse team in building our brand profile, following and reach.
- Contributing ideas and writing content for Glasshouse Journal; spanning hair, beauty, fashion, food, art and lifestyle subjects.
- Assisting in the sourcing and creation of images for our online and social platforms.
- Contributing ideas for potential editorial content/photoshoots.
- Keeping abreast of relevant news and trends to feed into content.
Requirements
- experience working in a reception/front of house role preferred.
- Strong customer service skills including a polite phone manner and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent written skills.
- A real interest in organic beauty, wellbeing and fashion.
- Photography and PhotoShop skills preferred.
- experience using social media, preferably for a brand or a similar sized company.
- Previous experience in a managerial role preferred.
- Excellent communication and a friendly, positive manner.
