FRENCH SPEAKING GOVERNESS, Czech Republic with International Travel
Working days: 24/5 - 6 on call (exact length of shifts tbc.)
Children: 4 year old girl and 6 year old boy
Salary: EURO750 ++ per week net (negotiable on experience and qualifications ) + own flat whilst off duty
Amazing opportunity has become available for a highly experienced, professional and dedicated French speaking Governess, to work within a UHNW family who split their time between Czech Republic and various locations around the world.
During a typical day, Governess will be responsible for the morning routine and school runs, nursery duties and then school pick-ups and helping with homework, planning activities and providing French lessons, focusing on the children’s manners and generally being a good role model to them. Governess will be expected to come up with a weekly activity schedule for the children, researching the area you are staying and being proactive on this matter. Whilst the household is staffed, Governess will be expected to stay on top of typical nursery duties such as cooking for the children, keeping their rooms tidy etc. As well. Some of these duties are split between Governess and another nanny the family currently employ, as she will work at the same time.
Governess will also be solely expected to teach the children speak French – they are currently fully bilingual in English and Czech, and are learning French – plan lessons, assist with homework and teach manners and etiquette, whilst leading by example.
Prior Governess/Tutor experience and proven track record within a similar role (or teaching background) is essential for this role.
Governess will be working on 24/5 - 6 on call basis whilst on duty, however as the children are at school during the day, Governess will have time off then. The parents are also very hands on, and in reality Governess will have more time off – however the contract requires full flexibility (in reality Governess is often going to have at least 1 day off per week).
The family travel very frequently and are very keen to find a very professional individual who knows how to conduct themselves in staffed households and is prepared to commit to a long term role. The shifts could be anything between 2 to 8 weeks long at a time, depending on the family’s needs (and where in the world they are), and you will be paid through the year (on working and non-working weeks).
A driver is essential for this role as the family live in very remote locations (this is not a busy city role).
There will be a lot of proxy parenting and Governess may be left in charge of the children for a week at a time. A highly organised and responsible person is therefore essential for this role.
Having an excellent level of spoken and written French and the ability to communicate well in English is essential for this role. Czech/Slovak language would be useful but not essential. Governess must hold a clean driving licence, EU passport and clean recent DBS check.
The accommodation whilst on duty will be own bedroom and bathroom, and whilst off duty Governess is welcome to use the family’s flat in Prague.
