Essential: Confident supporting a child with SEN.
Desired: Previous nanny experience
Start Date:  as soon as possible
Days and Hours: Monday to Thursday 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm OR 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm (Additional hours in the school holidays and weekends can be made available)
Pets: The family have two cats
*The family can offer flexibility on the hours for the right candidate and there is also the opportunity for additional weekend hours so please enquire. Please note that a 3.00 pm start will involve additional household duties and some errands for the family.
We are looking for a warm-hearted special needs carer to play with and provide support to Sarah.  Sarah, aged 12, is loving and very social, she loves colouring, playing ball, music, cooking and painting. She has a rare genetic condition, leaving her wheelchair bound and non-verbal. Sarah needs assistance with feeding and her personal care.  She understands basic conversation and can respond to questions.  She loves being with people and is very sociable, although can become anxious in unfamiliar situations. Sarah can do assisted stepping between chairs or the floor and can sit on her own.
The house has been fitted with a lift and adapted bath to make moving around and personal care easier. This role will suit a nanny who can help Sarah engage with her surroundings and support her social and learning development. It is also important to be emotionally resilient and be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour at times. No specific medical training is required, just a calm, patient and friendly character with lots of common sense and experience of childcare.
