Swan Bar and Restaurant is located at the iconic Shakespeare's Globe on the Southbank within easy reach of London Bridge and St. Paul's Stations. Swan is a beautiful Bar and Restaurant set over three floors with stunning views of the river Thames and St Paul's Cathedral.
We are a young, dynamic company operating a diverse and lively business, incorporating a busy ground floor bar offering traditional British classics and a newly designed restaurant on the first floor featuring seasonal modern British cuisine with an award-winning wine list.
We are open all day, 7 days a week serving menus for lunch, afternoon tea, pre-theatre and dinner.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- To ensure floor is set-up and broken down according to standards and on time, and ensure mis en place is ready before each service, and ensure ambience is in accordance with Swan’s guidelines
- To take ownership of the floor and to control your section and supervise the commis waiters, whilst performing all aspects of day-to-day operations
- To take ownership of your own service standards, acting as a role model to junior staff in sequence of service, attitude, and customer satisfaction
- Ensuring you do everything possible to assist in maximising revenue through upselling, product knowledge – “sell” rather than order take, and be able to suggest a drink to go with a relevant dish - be it wine or cocktail, and be able to explain why.
- To demonstrate initiative and self-discipline when on duty, and to be aware of your colleagues, and to work with them to provide a professional service.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Excellent and fluent use of English, with great communication skills
-At least 5 + years in the hospitality sector (preferably London)
-Be flexible (7 shifts per week including weekends)
-Hard working, with a good attitude and sense of humour
