We have recently undertaken a large project partnering with a Big Box firm to roll out a rebranding exercise expected to take the next 4 years. We are looking to source an experienced site manager with a proven record of managing a team 12-20 men team and have strong communication skills to all stakeholders.
The work will based around the UK and the candidate expected to be able to go where the work is. Generous travel allowances will be provided.
Construction site experience will be advantageous but not necessary. The successful candidate will be leading and managing teams of around 14 men installing pallet racking
Site Manager Duties and Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following requirements.
• Maintain a safe site at all times
• Set achievable daily / weekly installation targets in conjunction with the install team to maintain / meet client requirements
• Discuss installation requirements / program with the install team prior to commencing the installation
• Gather all install team information prior to commencing the installation e.g. Insurances, electrical register and SWMS’s, which must be reviewed / approved by the site manager. It is also the responsibility of the site manager to forward this information to the client / company project manager.
• Make sure all SSS representatives, including the Site Manager and install team labour have attended either all of the builders, clients or company inductions prior to starting work on site.
• Coordinate and check all material deliveries, taking appropriate action for any shortages, damaged or late delivered materials, as continuity of the installation must be maintained.
• Develop / maintain a material inventory management system that allows materials to be stored on site in a manner that makes items easy to identify and gain access to throughout the installation.
• Follow up with Project Manager / Warehouse for all material issues.
• Address all install team issues
• Discuss progress daily with the install team before or after each shift.
• If the installation gets behind schedule, devise ways in which it can be brought back onto schedule.
• Sort / request build elevation sheets in advance to the install team requiring them.
• Check the install team’s floor marking out. Making sure you / client is satisfied that all is correct before standing / anchoring any racks.
• Check bay elevation sheets are in their correct location against the client supplied numbers plan before install team fit out bays.
• Check every bay (preferably before boards are installed) making sure beams, levels and mid panels etc. Are installed correctly as per elevation sheet.
• Update and maintain a site journal. (Refer to site management journal template). This is to be shared with the company Project Manager on an agreed rotation.
• Develop and maintain good communication channels with the client, other trades on site and the company project manager.
• Coordinate / record tool box meetings (minimum once per week)
• Spot check plant and equipment log books, electrical tagging etc.
• Take appropriate action for any WH and S breaches
• Maintain daily site cleanliness
• Incident management as per company processes.
• Prepare / maintain rack defect inspection schedule and communicate with installation crew and follow up to make sure all is complete and signed off as complete.
• On completion make sure the site is clean and tidy, with any surplus materials stored in an agreed area with the client.
• Complete any outstanding issues identified on the IRIA audit report prior to merchandising commencing.
• On completion conduct a walkthrough of the installation with the client, and upon acceptance have the completion certificate signed off and returned to the company project manager.
