We have a great opportunity for an experienced seamstress to join the team at our busy vintage clothing studio located in North West London.
We are looking for someone with proven experience, exceptional organisational and time management skills, excellent sewing skills and knowledge of alterations and how to work with delicate and specialist fabrics, including fine silk and leather. You will need to have previous experience.
You will be working underneath the owners of the company, and your duties will include everything from liaising with our Topshop concession manager, co-ordinating all deliveries into the store, being responsible for everything coming into and leaving the studio, alterations and customisation of garments, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the studio in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
Skills/experience Required
Excellent organisational and time management skills
The ability to set and work to deadlines
Excellent skills on industrial machines, including straight stitch machines and overlockers
Strong knowledge of finishing techniques on a wide variety of fabrics
The ability to cut garments on the stand, including cutting silk and linings accurately
The ability to think of creative ways to customise garments
The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
Fluent written and spoken English
Knowledge of current and upcoming trends, and an awareness of what’s happening on the high street
Previous experience working with vintage clothing is preferred, but not essential.
Please note that this is not a designing role, and is suitable for applicants wanting a more technical sewing and customising position.
The role starts at 3 days a week but may increase. Hours are 9am-5pm, £10 per hour, and we are based in Ladbroke Grove W10.
