Experienced Female PA Required

Posted: 12-07-2024
Place: Islington, London

An energetic and dynamic female PA, with experience of supporting young people with a learning disability, is required in Islington. The job is for 9 hours, worked over weekends only, at £12 per hour gross.
The job is to support a very young woman, who has a learning disability and autism. Sara (not her real name) lives in Islington with her mother. She already has a PA to support her during the week, but needs a second PA for weekends.
Sara’s support needs are complex: she exhibits unpredictable behaviour patterns, and is reported as having an on-going low to moderate level of risk to herself and others. Sara does not have an awareness of danger, and can be impulsive.
Sara has difficulty relating to her emotions, and can be very emotionally unstable. She presents as younger that her physical age: she can appear to be very immature.
Sara is a very active young woman, with lots of energy, who hardly ever gets tired. She likes to talk a lot, and loves to go on long walks. She has a short attention span and can get bored easily. Sara is reported as possibly having ADHD: she requires almost constant supervision.
Apart from walking and talking, Sara likes to create picture collages on her phone. She also likes to go clothes shopping, swimming and going to the gym.
Sara has been known to play ‘pranks’ on her mother, and on her support workers. Sara’s PAs need to present a calm and patient demeanour at all times. It is important that her PA does not retaliate to provocation from Sara; otherwise the situation can quickly escalate. In rare cases, escalation has led to Sara pulling her PA’s hair, or throwing objects at her PA.
This is a job for someone with prior experience of supporting a young person with a learning disability. The PA will need to have lots of energy and dynamism to ‘keep up’ with Sara. It will be a challenging role, and the rate of pay is set to reflect this.
Benefits:
Pay £12 per hour gross via BACS (not ‘cash in hand’).
5.6 weeks' paid holiday per year.
This job is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure outcome, evidence of permission to work in the UK, and satisfactory references.
