Place: Islington, London

An energetic and dynamic female carer/personal assistant, with experience of supporting young people with a learning disability, is required in Islington. The job is for 9 hours, worked over weekends only, at £12 per hour gross.
The job is to support a young woman, who has a learning disability and autism. Sara (not her real name) lives in Islington with her mother. She already has a carer/personal assistant to support her during the week, but needs a second carer/personal assistant for weekends.
Sara’s support needs are complex: she can exhibit unpredictable behaviour patterns, and does not have much awareness of danger. Sara can be impulsive.
Sara has difficulty relating to her emotions, and can be emotionally unstable. She presents as younger that her physical age, which can make her appear immature.
Sara is a very active young woman, with lots of energy, who hardly ever gets tired. She likes to talk a lot, and loves to go on long walks. She has a short attention span and can get bored easily. Sara is reported as possibly having ADHD.
Apart from walking and talking, Sara likes to create picture collages on her phone. She also likes to go clothes shopping, swimming and going to the gym.
Sara is generally a 'happy and Smiley' young woman; however she been known to play ‘pranks’ on her mother, and on her support workers. Sara’s carer/personal assistants need to present a calm and patient demeanour at all times. It is important that her carer/personal assistants stay in control and do not retaliate to any provocation from Sara.
This is a job for someone with prior experience of supporting a young person with a learning disability/autism. The carer/personal assistant will need to have lots of energy and dynamism to ‘keep up’ with Sara. It will be a challenging role, and the rate of pay is set to reflect this.
Benefits:
Pay £12 per hour gross via BACS (not ‘cash in hand’).
5.6 weeks' paid holiday per year.
This job is open to female candidates only, under section 7(2) (e) Sex Discrimination Act,1975.
