We are a Danish/South African family, who live in the middle of Balham, off Bedford Hill. Our kids go to a local Balham school, Y1(G, 5 years) and Y4 (B,8 years old) respectively. We are a happy, busy family with two full-time working parents.
We need an after school nanny, who can help out during term time, 4-5 days a week. The hours are likely to be Mon/Tues 4.20-7 and Wed-Fri 3.30-7 and some days during school holidays (can be flexible). You will need to collect the kids from school and take them on their bikes back to our house, which is 1 km from school. If you can ride a bike that would be great. As I said, if you can only work 4 days a week, that's ok too.
Then it's the usual - supervising (and motivating?) homework and reading (always a fun challenge with an 8-year old boy ; ) they both play the piano and will need supervision with that too, then dinner and a shower then some time to play before we get back between 6-7pm. They really like arts and crafts kinda things, making and colouring. We have a trampoline in the garden, which is frequently used in the warmer months.
They are good kids, will probably need some help/reminding to eat nicely and finish their food.
We also have a live in au pair, who helps with general household tasks (laundry etc) and the occasional drop off in the morning. That means that if you can only do 4 days, there is some flexibility here, where the au pair could do an afternoon instead.
We'd love someone who can stay with us for the medium to long-term, someone who's experienced with kids this age too, please.
