The Canonbury Tavern is a short walk from Highbury and Islington tube station, on Canonbury Place. This historic pub with its large garden has been rapidly gaining a reputation for serving some of the finest British seasonal food in London.
New opportunity not to be missed! Young’s has a unique opportunity available for a Sous Chef to join the team in The Canonbury Tavern.  The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £27 000 per annum plus excellent benefits.

What are the responsibilities of the Sous Chef?
You will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the development, implementation and review of the menu throughout the year. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting all our food dishes to the expected standard of presentation and food hygiene regulations at all times, demonstrating your knowledge and understanding of our food strategy through delivery of freshly cooked, British seasonal dishes and pub classics. You will assist the Head Chef in the achievement of the food General Practitioner % through weekly stock management and support in managing kitchen performance against financial targets, business risk compliance and standards.
What do we look for in a Sous Chef?
Our food offer reflects our emphasis on high quality seasonal British food, locally sourced and prepared in-house and our Head Chefs and their team have the autonomy to deliver their own individual dishes according to the needs and wants of our customers.
You will have a passion and flare for producing quality fresh food in a busy kitchen environment. You will have experience working in a similar environment and demonstrate a passion for leading and developing a team to deliver outstanding food every time. You will be an active team player with excellent communication skills and be responsible and able to manage the kitchen safely and effectively at all times. Working alongside our Head Chef you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ability by helping to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials, whilst demonstrating great planning and organisational skills to maintain effective controls with regards to both General Practitioner and labour.
