Event Volunteer Required in London

Posted: Today
Place: Kilburn, London

Event volunteers will support Action Space's Fun Palace event on 7 and 8 October at The Library of Willesden Green. Volunteers will support front of house by meeting and greeting and representing Action Space, and encouraging people to get involved in the event.
About Action Space
Action Space supports the development of artists with learning disabilities and creates innovative projects for people with learning disabilities to engage with the visual arts. At our three dedicated art studios based across London, artists with learning disabilities attend weekly studio projects and receive guidance and mentoring from our specialist artist facilitators. Our outreach programme extends our work outside of the studio and responds to the needs and interested of London's learning disabled community.
About our event
Action Space Fun Palace: 7 and 8 October at The Library at Willesden Green.
2 of our Artists, Pardip Kapil and Linda Bell, will be transforming the Reading Room at The Library at Willesden Green into a Fun Palace, and inviting visitors and passers-by to get involved. Visitors will become immersed in Pardip's surreal and unpredictable world of art happenings and interact with Linda's complex and delicate sculptures. Visitors will be invited to add their own creations to the growing installation.
About the volunteer role
We are looking for volunteers to support the event by representing Action Space, meeting and greeting the public, and explaining to them how they can get involved. They will be stationed at the entrance of the event and will be a friendly and inviting face to invite passers-by to enter the space.
The volunteers will be fully briefed about Action Space and what the event involves. They will meet Pardip and Linda, find out more about the way that Action Space works, and see the installation evolve over the weekend. It will be a fun and celebratory event to be involved with!
Skills
Good communication skills, patience, friendly nature, keen to chat to the general public and an open mind!
Time committement
The hours of the event are 11am-4pm each day. We will organise volunteers into groups of 2 or 3 to cover 2.5 hour shifts. Volunteers can commit to one or more shifts over the weekend.
Expenses
Up to £10 will be reimbursed for food and travel. Volunteers must keep receipts and will be reimbursed after the event.
Benefits
This is a great opportunity to meet new people and be part of a team. You will meet Action Space's artists Pardip Kapil and Linda Bell, both of whom have learning disabilties, and see their artistic practices in action with the public. You will gain communication skills through interacting with the public. Action Space events are always a lot of fun as the artists and public explore together to create something that can be explored, and they are often unpredictable - we never know what will happen next, in a good way!
