Machiya is a Japanese restaurant and bar based in the heart of the West End founded by the team behind Kanada Ya.
The bar at Machiya is an intimate venue seating up to 30 guests, offering a range of cocktails inspired by Japan as well as an extensive list of Japanese whiskies and Sake available by the glass.
We are looking for an enthusiastic bartender or bar-back to support the Head Bartender during busy periods as well as working independently on alternative weekdays.
The ideal candidate:
• will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a bartending or bar-back role.
• will have sound knowledge of classic cocktail preparation.
• may have basic knowledge of Japanese ingredients, however this is not imperative as full training will be required
• must be able to work independently
As a small venue, good teamwork and a willingness to help in all aspects of the business is crucial. In addition to tending the bar, the successful candidate will from time to time be expected to:
• receive and organise deliveries.
• carry out regular stock takes.
• manage the back of bar including polishing and washing glasses.
• manage both the bar and floor during busiest periods.
