Design and Technology Technician
£17,158 Per annum
37.5 Hours per week, Mondays - Fridays, 8:00am - 4:00pm (including 30 minutes for lunch)
Term time only - 39 Weeks per Academic Year.
Our client is looking for a support and assistance technician to work within their Design and Technology department, in Resistant Materials and Textiles. They will also be providing support in classrooms to insure that learning and teaching can be of the highest possible standards.
Duties:
Leading on stock control, compiling orders, liaising or negotiating with suppliers and maintaining appropriate records.
Monitoring, controlling and keeping financial records of the departmental expenditure in accordance with the Academy’s Policy.
Ensuring the availability of suitable materials and equipment (including CAM equipment) and suggesting alternatives for suitability and economy.
Carrying out first line servicing of machines and equipment in the multi materials teaching and prep area. This will include oiling, sharpening, removing dust and minor repairs.
Undertaking general workshop and textiles rooms maintenance where required.
Preparing materials and equipment (including CAM equipment) for Design and Technology lessons (in Resistant Materials and Textiles) and projects, including the preparation of demonstration materials and resources, and the stocking of classrooms with consumable resources.
Maintaining stock control, compiling orders, liaising or negotiating with suppliers and maintaining appropriate records.
Monitoring, controlling and keeping financial records of the departmental expenditure in accordance with the Academy’s Policy.
Ensuring the availability of suitable materials and equipment (including CAM equipment) and suggesting alternatives for suitability and economy.
Assisting with the management of health and safety particularly the main issues specific to the Academy and how they relate to students, staff, visitors, contractors and other users of Academy premises and facilities.
Assisting with the management of fire safety through the process of risk assessment.
Requirements:
Must have DBS check within the last 12 months.
Educated to GCSE Grade C or above in English, or a level 2 equivalent.
experience in the set-up, use of maintenance of a range of CAM equipment including laser cutters, 3D printers, sublimation printers and vinyl cutters.
Possession of appropriate certificates for pillar drill, circular saw and bandsaw.
Knowledge of COSHH and ESCC regulations in relation to the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
Knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling and use of hazardous equipment and tools.
Ability to use ICT (CAD / CAM) in a classroom setting.
experience of stock control
Knowledge of safeguarding children requirements.
