The Baked Bean Company is a dynamic and growing organisation with our day care services including: drama and dance workshops, DJ training, a range of social activities, community connector service and life skills workshops.
We provide high quality developmental workshops in all three art forms of drama, dance and music to people with a wide range of disabilities, encouraging inclusion and integration.
Your main role will be to work alongside our current tutors to run DJ and Music workshops for adults with learning disabilities. You will be expected to lead and assist the students in using DJing equipment and music software. The group are hugely interested in all music related activities and it will be your responsibility to lesson plan and deliver new and refreshing ideas for the group.
Essential skills/qualities:
• Excellent communication skills: to communicate effectively with students, carers, members of the public and other professionals, both verbally and with a good standard of written English
• Good organisational skills
• experience of working as a DJ
• Ability to independently plan and deliver successful DJing sessions to develop the skills and knowledge of the group
• Commitment to the provision of high quality person-centred support to empower people with learning disabilities
• Support people in a way that respects their choice, dignity and privacy
• Form and maintain effective working relationships with our students
• Flexible approach to working patterns and responsibilities
• Have a positive outlook
Desirable skills/qualities:
• experience and or training in care work
• experience in teaching other aspects of music performing arts
• Previous work with people with disabilities
• Understanding and knowledge of learning disabilities
• Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures
The position is for 10 hours per week, working on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
