Delivery Cyclist at The Dusty Knuckle Bakery
Part time, approximately. 8/10 hours per week £8.50 per hour London E8.
Tuesday - Friday starting at 8am.
The Dusty Knuckle is a small sourdough bakery based in a shipping container in Dalston employing young people that face barriers to financial independence. We deliver all our bread by bike to the local area and are now recruiting a delivery cyclist.
The shift length may vary depending on the number of drops but the average shift is 2 hours.
You must have your own bike in good working condition! Bicycles ONLY!
The job role includes:
- Collecting assigned trailer/cargo bike from its storage point and attaching it safely to
bicycle
- Using the delivery check sheet provided to ensure the complete order for all
customers on assigned route have been packed
- Loading the trailer safely and without damaging/squashing any products
- Completing route in a timely manner, taking the most efficient, safe route and
ensuring customers receive their bread by their delivery deadline (stated on delivery
check sheet)
- Unloading orders quickly and maintaining a good relationship with customers
- Ensuring the correct keys for delivery route are on colour coded key chain and
returning them at the end of each shift
- Keeping assigned trailer clean and dry – using waterproof covers provided on rainy
days
- Reporting any issues with customers or problems with your route promptly
- Being a reliable and enthusiastic member of The Dusty Knuckle team
You will receive a coffee/tea and a fresh loaf of bread to take home for each shift you work.
We require the following:
- You should have your own bike in good working condition and appropriate for
towing a trailer
- be a confident, experienced city cyclist used to riding in London safely
- enjoy cycling in all Weathers
- have good knowledge of London roads
- have a good level of spoken and written English
- have good social skills and reliability
- be someone who can work independently and quickly, think for themselves and
take responsibility for ensuring that all orders on their route are delivered on time
and in good condition
- be available for the role on an ongoing, permanent basis
