Job Title: Chef / Cook

Salary: £10 - £10.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities
Follow set menus assisting in the preparation of food and ensuring food is cooked at the highest standard. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and ensure correct food handling methods are observed.
Responsibilities / Duties

Assist in the preparation of food and ensure it is cooked to the highest standard as set out on the menus.
In the absence of Cook order food from suppliers when required.
Prepare tea time menu for the evening care staff.
Maintain food diary ensuring records are kept up to date; recording fridge / freezer temperatures, goods in and cooked items.
Maintain record of pupils’ daily dietary requirements.
Ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene is maintained.
Ensure that all areas of the kitchen are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and the cleaning schedule is adhered to.
Ensure correct food handling methods are observed; particularly regarding and cross contamination and storage.
Ensure that all sharp and dangerous utensils are locked away at the end of each shift and all items are accounted for.
Ensure that only kitchen staff are in the kitchen between 9am and 3pm.
Identify personal training needs and attend appropriate training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
Adhere to the Employee Handbook and all Company policies and procedures;
Particularly those relating to Health and Safety and safeguarding the welfare of pupils / residents.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by management.

An Ideal Candidate will be:

Fully able to prepare all kind Foods / Breakfast and Lunch from scratch.
DBS checked or willing to apply for DBS certificate.
Knowledge of health and food hygiene
Special dietary cookery skills desirable
Able to work on own initiative
Committed to working with people
Professional attitude
Good interpersonal skills
