Posted: 15 days ago
Place: Richmond, London

WHAT IS VAMPIRE SQUID?
Vampire Squid is a brand new website dedicated to horror, fantasy and science fiction, with a strong inclination towards the dark and the macabre side of film, fiction and fact.
Our goal is to provide our readers with the latest news, reviews, interviews, videos, and original features, and to promote the work of independent fiction writers and filmmakers.
Vampire Squid is officially launching on Halloween 2022!
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
We are currently seeking writers to contribute to our website with relevant news, articles, reviews, interviews and other original content.
Topics we cover include: horror, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comics, true crime, weird history, alternative events, literature, dark humour, art, and more.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This job can be done remotely and flexibly, but we will have targets and expectations that we require our contributors to try and meet. For example, meeting deadlines in order to maintain our content schedule, and ideally submitting an average of at least 3 news stories per week and two features per month.
Writers are also free to pitch their own ideas for features, reviews and interviews. We aim to ensure that all of our contributors get the creative support that they need, and are given the opportunity to build up a varied portfolio of published writing while working with us. We want to help you get your work seen and read.
Successful applicants should demonstrate strong writing and research skills, though we welcome both seasoned and inexperienced writers to apply.
As we are a brand new start-up company, we are currently unable to offer payment for this role. However, we aim to provide all of our contributors with the best experience possible, and the chance to get involved in upcoming projects as the site grows and develops, building a long-term relationship with us if they wish.
Following our initial launch period, Vampire Squid will also be launching its own Youtube channel and its own mobile app, so there will be lots of exciting things to stick around for!
For any of our writers who are local to London, there will also be the chance to attend meetings and events, and get involved in our video projects later on.
HOW TO APPLY:
Please submit a brief explanation of why you would like to become a contributor, along with your availability and any examples of published writing that you may have.
Please note, we cannot accept applications from anyone under the age of 18.
