Requirement: Trav Media organises IMM, an annual conference connecting travel journalists with the travel and tourism industries (see www.travmedia.com/immuk). The event this year takes place on 12 March 2022 at the QE2 Centre in Westminster. We need an assistant to work with us on recruitment of media to the event. The job is temporary and part-time, a three-day-a-week role to commence immediately and end on 12 March.
Overview: Last year IMM attracted 280 journalists and 160 exhibitors. The Conference Assistant’s responsibility is to help ensure that we beat last year’s record – ensuring that over 280 journalists attend the event (exhibitor registrations are not included in the role). Journalists attend our event for free, so no transaction is involved in enticing them to attend. However, it requires work to outline the benefits of the day to convince journalists to sign up, and follow-up work is needed to ensure that they will actually attend.
Responsibilities: The person’s main responsibility will be to phone journalists and give them reasons to attend. The person will need to keep an up-to-date a spreadsheet itemising every phone call and the results of the phone call. Over 50% of the working day will be based on the phone. Other elements of the day include research into journalists, registering journalists and liaising with team members.
Trav Media: Trav Media is a website that connects journalists with the travel industry across several regions of the world, including UK, USA, Germany, Australia, and the Far East.
Remuneration: We will pay at an underlying rate of £150 per day plus a holiday allowance. The person is required to work three days a week between now and the event and on the day of the event itself.
Location: Trav Media UK is based in offices in Waterloo, Central London.
