We are currently recruiting for a passionate self driven Commis Chef to join our Kitchen team at R.S. Hispaniola.
The R.S. Hispaniola, formerly Maid of Ashton, started her career with the Caledonian Steam Packet Company as a passenger ferry on the famous Clyde and Isles route around the west coast of Scotland. Since 1973 she has rested at anchor alongside the Victoria Embankment in the heart of London. With stunning views upstream towards the Houses of Parliament and downstream through the arches of Hungerford Bridge to St Paul's, the R.S. Hispaniola offers a haven amid the city bustle. In 2002 the Hispaniola became part of the City Cruises fleet. Today the R. S. Hispaniola betrays little of her working pedigree, having been thoroughly refitted to provide two decks of purpose-built restaurant and function room facilities.
Main Purpose
To contribute to customer satisfaction by playing your part in preparing and serving high quality food in accordance to restaurant standards.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Assistance to the Head Chef
2. Preparation of vegetables and sauces
3. Service of starters and desserts
4. General day to day cleaning duties
5. Adherence to Health and Safety Policies
6. To contribute to the best of your ability to the production of food items
7. To ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion and to the appropriate agreed standard
8. To be familiar with the menu of the day and know your responsibilities in accordance with the menu
9. To ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage through to preparation and service.
10. To ensure HACCP compliance within the kitchen and food beverage outlets
11. To avoid unnecessary wastage by observing proper control methods
12. Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order and report any maintenance issues to the Head Chef
Person Profile
Educational Level/Qualifications Required
• Certificate in Food Hygiene
experience/Knowledge
• experience working in A la Carte Restaurant
• experience working in a busy and demanding environment
Personal skills required for role
• Must be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service
• Must be standards driven and detail orientated
• Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Must be flexible with regards to hours
• Must have good command of the English language
• Must have excellent self presentation
• Team player but able to motivate self and work independently on own initiative
• Flexible, can-do attitude with the ability to react calmly in a pressurised situation
• Ability to own and follow-through on projects required and issues raised.
