We’re looking for a Commis Chef to join us in the kitchen at our local, The Pembroke. A laidback neighbourhood pub on the high street, close to cafes and shops. Buzzy in the evening, papers and roasts at the weekend, and a beer terrace for long summer days.

Our menu changes when the leaves fall, the temperature drops, the flowers come out and the sun Shines. So while we always have pub favourites (with a bit of extra TLC on top), there’s always something new to work on too.

Our pubs are all about the people in them – the staff and the locals – so we’re more interested in who you are and what makes you tick. Besides, we can’t put the things we’re looking for into a simple job description. We can’t sum up someone’s character, their laugh, their get-the-job-done-brilliantly determination. That’s who we’re after.

If you’ve got a year or two’s experience in a busy kitchen, great. But if you haven’t, as long as you’re a fast learner who’s full of ideas and keen to be part of a hard-working team, then that’s fine by us too. We can show you the rest.

Who are we, anyway? We’re Metropolitan Pub Company (or Metro Pub Co for short). We’re part of Greene King, but they leave us to it. We’re big believers in local pubs being just that, with their own character and charm. We’ve got 67 pubs in and around London: neighbourhood locals, city pubs and foodie ones. They’re all different – run by their managers, not a boardroom – and we like it that way.
