Childcare and Support for Musicians

Posted: Today
Place: Islington, London

We are looking for an inspirational person to help maintain and develop our big family and home in Finsbury Park, N4, including often looking after our 10 year old twins after school.
We are a large and happy family of musicians looking for childcare for delightful girl/boy twins aged 10, and housekeeping support (live out). We also have three older siblings, all at university and one of them living at home. We live in Finsbury Park, two minutes walk from the underground and bus station.
Lucy and Sam are at school (walking distance from home), and we need someone who will pick them up after school at 3.30pm, take them to various clubs, organize play dates, and involve them in lots of fun activities, and help them with music practice until we get home around 7.30pm. We also need help during half terms and holidays. Simon, their father, is a musician and plays in the English National Opera orchestra. This means that he can do this some of the time, so in some ways the childcare is something of a job share.
We also need help in keeping the household thriving – this includes things like planning meals and cooking, grocery shopping, keeping the living spaces and Lucy and Sam’s room tidy, keeping up with washing, sorting Lucy and Sam’s clothes and making sure they have the things they need. There are also other opportunities such as looking out for ways in which we can improve our home as a space for everyone in the family, the little things that make things run more smoothly, or make them more fun. This might include how to organize things within a room, little bits of DIY or noticing that we need fresh plants for the window boxes.
We need you to have some experience looking after children, to enjoy their company and to have plenty of ideas for things to do both inside and outside, and to be a non-smoker.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Main responsibilities:
- Pick up Lucy and Sam from school at 3.30pm weekdays
- Take them to activities and play with them
- Help them with homework, music practice and reading
- Organise play dates
- Ensure they shower etc
- Help keep the house tidy
- Washing for Lucy and Sam
- Cooking some meals
We are prepared to pay up to £10.00 per hour, and are happy to work on the basis of a minimum number of hours paid each week.
To apply, please send your CV, with a photo if possible, contact details and references.
