Full-Time Chef - Are you tired of split shifts, working to midnight and ready for more regular hours, together with 28 days paid holiday and free parking on top. Would you like to work in a kitchen but want a less hectic workplace and more balanced work life? Our staff rotas are done 4 weeks in advance so you can plan your social life. Your main Responsibilities will include:

Preparation and cooking of food
Monitoring of Stock
Temperature Control
Cleaning of kitchen equipment
To comply with current Hygiene and Safety Regulations within the Kitchen environment.

Our large well equipped modern kitchen serves over 100 meals a day to residents, staff and visitors in our family style care home for the elderly. We are not as trendy as the gastro restaurants and top hotels, but we share the same aim, to keep our customers happy by providing the best food we can. Our challenge is more difficult than restaurants as we have captive customers that we have to please 365 days a year.
The post is full time 37.5 hours per week working 5 days over 7 including weekend working (usually 2 out of 4). The hourly rate of pay is £8.57. The kitchen is staffed from 06.30 for breakfast and our last meal service ends at 19.30 so you will have every evening free. The post is hourly paid not salaried so all hours worked are paid.
Person Specification
We are looking for experienced Cook/Chefs to work full-time shifts, 37.5 hours per week 2 main shifts either 06:30 to 14.30 and 11.30 to 19.30 weekdays and weekends, rostered 5 days over.
7. Weekend working is usually 2 out of 4 weekends.
You should have a minimum of 2 years practical experience and ideally some formal training.
You should be familiar with a wide range of home-made dishes and able to prepare traditional English dishes made from scratch and without supervision.
For the successful applicant, we will need to take up references and a DBS check (criminal record).
