Full Time Shop Manager required
Shop address: Church Street (off Edgware Rd), London NW8 8ET
Age UK Westminster is in the process of opening a second Charity shop in the heart of the Church Street Community. Our goal is to build on the success of our current charity shop, situated on Harrow Road, London W9, and generate an additional stream of sustainable income for our organisation whilst increasing our presence in the Church Street area.
We are seeking a driven, creative individual to help us launch this exciting venture. Initially our new manager will work closely with other Age UK Westminster staff, from both the shop and head office, to set up the shop floor, source donations and promote the shop opening.
Salary: £18,000 Per Annum (Inclusive of London Weighting), plus up to 5% contributory pension
CONTRACT: 12 Month’s Fixed Term
HOURS OF WORK: Standard shop opening times are 9.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and the standard working week is 35 hours (5 days a week) for full-time staff.
HOLIDAYS: The holiday entitlement is 28 working days each calendar year. The shop will be closed during bank holidays.
Retail experience is essential, but preferably in a charity shop with proven managerial skills, energy and enthusiasm. Basic book-keeping and knowledge of excel or similar would be an advantage.

Hours: 35 Hours Per week (5 days)
Salary: £18,000 Per Annum (Inclusive London Weighting), plus up to 5% Pension contribution.
Reporting to: Area Shop Manager
Shop address: Church Street, London NW8
Purpose:
• To manage the charity shop, ensuring efficient and effective management of shop, volunteers, premises and stock.
Purpose:

• To provide a high quality retail service in relation to agreed performance targets.
• To ensure that all appropriate standards of security, health and safety are met.
Main responsibilities:
Income/Sales
• To maximize sales and fulfil agreed performance targets.
• Promote Gift Aid and sign up donors to enhance income.
• Maintain awareness of sales trends stock levels and local competition.
• Ensure the highest standards of customer care and service.
• Ensure all administrative policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure takings are banked daily.
• Develop online sales strategy on Amazon, eBay and other social media.
Managing resources
• Recruit, train and co-ordinate the work of staff and volunteers.
• Identify and train ‘key’ volunteers to deputise in the absence of a paid member of staff.
• Ensure the shop is adequately staffed at all times and produce a work Rota for staff and volunteers.
Premises
• Ensure any building, electrical or plumbing faults are reported immediately.
• Ensure the shop is clean and tidy at all times and that goods are displayed in an attractive manner.
• Verify that all statutory regulations are met, including Fire, Health and Safety.
• Open and close the shop for specified trading hours.
• Retain shop keys and respond to emergency call-out when necessary.
Stock
• Monitor stock levels, acknowledge and value donations and arrange collection of donations when necessary.
• Sort, price and display stock to achieve maximum sales.
• Arrange disposal of unsaleable donations for the best possible value
• Develop a plan to increase donations.
Public Relations
• Maintain good relations with the public, local businesses, landlords and neighbouring retailers.
• Ensure that all queries relating to Age UK are answered promptly or signposted to relevant staff and that all leaflets and other information held in the shop are up to date.
Confidentiality
• Maintain absolute confidentiality with all company information.
Other responsibilities
• Maintain regular contact with the office.
• Undertake any other appropriate actions required to realise the full potential of the shop.
