Carer / therapist to assist with care and development of a young man (age 14) with autism. The role is based in Highbury N5. We are looking for someone to start in mid-July.
The candidate will care for our son after school, 4 hours on Sunday and provide more extended assistance during the school holidays.
Our son has limited verbal communication and requires close supervision to keep him safe. He is energetic and occasionally exhibits challenging behaviour. He is also more typically happy and affectionate. He enjoys being out in the community, reading favourite books and watching iPad. We are doing light touch ABA with our son and you will be expected to adopt a consistent approach - we will provide training. Our son has epilepsy and has infrequent seizures.
During term time the hours are Monday and Wednesday 3pm to 5.30pm. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 3pm to 6.30pm. Sunday, 4 hours with some flexibility on preferred start / finish time. During school holiday the hours are 4 hours on Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday and Thursday 4 pm to 7pm and on Friday 8.30am to 5.30 pm.
We will pay £14 net of tax during week days and £16 net at weekends.
We expect the candidate to have experience in care for children / young people with disability. The role has previously suited students with a background in childcare, pedagogy or child psychology.
