We’re offering a role in a lovely home in Stroud Road, Wimbledon Park, London, SW19 8DG. The applicant must live nearby as the job involves coming here 2-3 times daily. The job has two parts:
 
1. A care role: ‘Looking after Mum’, a delightful 87 year old English lady. Dressing/ changing for bed, preparing meals, taking her out for lunch, washing/bathing, doctor visits, managing tablets etc. There are some personal hygiene needs, so the applicant would need to manage this.
 
2. A housekeeping role: General tidying, laundry, some food shopping, light ironing etc – basically helping to ‘keep the house going’. (We are a husband/wife couple, plus elderly Mum).
 
The role is c.20 hours a week, Monday-Sunday, with the 3 visits being at the main mealtimes. There is a second (lovely) carer who does some of the weekly mealtimes and the main cleaning, plus I also do 4-5 sessions. This role therefore requires approximately 12-15 visits to the house per week, and slightly more when either I, or the other carer, are away.
 
The morning visit is 8-9am, lunch is 1-2pm and dinner is 5.30-6.30 so your evenings are your own. You add your preferred hours built around visits, to manage the housekeeping needs or to take Mum out. Mum goes away for 12 weeks per year, so there would be breaks during these times, when it is ideal to take your own holidays.
 
We’re looking for someone who loves working with the elderly and is kind and patient (as Mum has some memory issues). Common sense and organisational skills are needed, so things run smoothly. A highly reliable person, as this job involves responsibility for an elderly lady, in our home. A self-starter who can plan each week, and think ahead. Who can manage tablets and occasional doctor visits. experience working with the elderly and with cleaning/housekeeping roles is a bonus. And you must like our friendly cat and dog…
 
You must speak good English and be female (given the personal care aspects of the role). A UK passport and driving licence are preferred but not essential. You must be very, very local to SW19 8DG as it works so much better that way.
 
Salary: £12.50 per hour
Start date: Early August 2022 (or sooner, if preferred)
