Carer for Elderly Lady in Clapham South

Posted: Yesterday
Place: Clapham, London

"Peggy" has slight memory problems, which manifests itself sometimes in her being unsure of the day of the week, but that is only sometimes. She is registered blind, however this is for a visual impairment and she does still cook and clean for herself, but needs the sell-by dates on he food in her fridge checked regularly for her, and also enjoys having the newspaper and magazines read to her. She has a number of pills to take daily from a blister pack, mainly for low blood-pressure, angina and statins, and usually keeps track of these herself. Mainly because of her age, 92, our local authority has put in place a package of care to keep a daily eye on her, make sure she's eating ok and help with housework. Peggy likes to chat, about family and memories, growing-up in Ireland, and coming to England in 1945 to look after wounded servicemen at the military hospital in Selly Oak, Birmingham. She also likes to walk, weather permitting, and in Summers sit in her garden admiring her various plants in flowers. The main thing is that it be someone who can interact with and chat with her, listen to her stories, rather than just sit and watch TV with her.
