Carer Companion for Mature Lady With Dementia

Posted: Today
Place: Colliers Wood, London

Based in Mitcham (CR4) we are a Nigerian family looking for possibly two carers to care for our mother who has moderate Vascular Dementia. You must live within easy commute of Mitcham.
Ideally, we are would prefer mature applicants, with some care work and dementia experience, but you will also be given training. As mum is Nigerian and Christian we would want prefer someone from a similar background but that is not essential. If you can relate or appreciate our mother's background and Christian needs, points of view, and treat them with dignity and respect, we are open.
We are looking for two roles:
1) Morning time carer - to bath, dress and prepare breakfast for our mum 6 - 7 days a week. This would be an hour and we would expect some tidying for and around mum.
2) Companion/carer role - ideally looking for a mature lady who would predominately spend the day with mum and keep her busy, stimulated and entertained whilst we are at work. You would be expected to cook and make her meals and assist her to the toilet. We are happy to discuss times and pay. You would need to be flexible. This role would suit someone with little commitments or is semi or fully retired.
What we want:
In both roles we would expect you to be reliable, punctual (very important as mum needs routine). We would want to you to be able to communicate and laugh with mum and be able to see the woman and person beyond the beyond the Dementia. Mum had a sense of humour. You must be trust worthy and friendly, and we will treat you as part of the family too.
You would be expected to have a DBS and basic manual handling training and knowledge.
We will discuss pay options - ideally cash in hand.
Please email Oby (son of client), for a chat and possible interview.
