Franks Canteen is a small (30 covers), but bustling cafe in Highbury (N5) known for fresh food with a weekly changing menu, excellent friendly service and great coffee. We’ve superb reviews from the Evening Standard, Timeout and many other outlets.
We’re looking for a reliable, motivated, experienced and organised canteen manager to lead our front of house operations.
The ideal applicant must have a real appetite for the food and beverage industry and be up to date with current industry trends.
Excellent barista skills (Inc. Latte art) are essential.
You will be responsible for delivering excellent and friendly customer service, managing and training staff, developing and promoting the overall café proposition with the owner, opening and closing the café (including cashing up) for the majority of shifts, ordering and stock management, managing the tronc, recruitment, contributing to menus, drinks development, rotas and ensuring cleaning schedules are met to a very high standard.
During week days, you will also be working on your own (with support from a kitchen porter), so you need to be comfortable, organised and calm during busy periods. Weekends you would also be supported by a café assistant.
The applicant will be expected to work a 36-hour week (across 5 days) which will include weekends, but no evenings (although after a probation period this will move to 2 weekend days off a month on the Rota).
The role also includes share of customer gratuities, 28 days holiday per annum, free meals and drinks whilst on shift.
