We are a West London (Shepherds Bush) family with an American dad and South African mum, looking for a full-time, live-in nanny for our two boys (4 and 1 year old). This is a sole charge role (both parents work full time), but mum occasionally works from home a couple of days a week. Our eldest son is in nursery 5 mornings a week, where a wonderful nanny network exists, with plenty opportunity to meet others.
We are a fun, happy family and like to have a positive, engaged person around the house. We are looking for an energetic, imaginative, nanny who can play superheroes, invent games and initiate physical play with the boys.
Mum speaks Afrikaans with the kids around the house, so someone who understands Afrikaans or Dutch would be a bonus. Otherwise, someone who is used to working in an environment where another language is spoken regularly is essential.
She needs to be a Swimmer, non-smoker, does not need to drive and we currently have no pets. We are a meat eating family, so a vegetarian nanny will have to cope with carnivores and cook all her own food!
Responsibilities include:
- Nursery drop-off/pick-up (walking, 5 mornings a week )
- Walk eldest to swimming class
- Arrange play dates with friends
- Wash, hang and fold all kids clothing and bed linen
- Change kids beds every week
- Tidy all kids Toys at the end of the day
- Sort kids Toys at the end of every week
- Keep kids high chair, buggy and car seats clean
- Take kids to get new books from the library
- Prepare and cook 3 healthy daily meals
- Cook own meals
- Make shopping list
- Make packed lunch
- Take baby to baby classes
- Pack away groceries
- Shop for home essentials
We would like someone hands-on who will actively look for things to do around the house when the baby is sleeping (like washing the pushchair and car seats etc.). We have a cleaner twice a week who does all the heavy lifting when it comes to cleaning.
The role is Monday - Friday and requires 2 nights babysitting per week (ideally one weekday, one weekend, but we are very flexible on the weekend babysitting, so don't let that put you off). The normal working hours are 7:30 am - 6:30 pm, but you can often finish early and may occasionally be asked to stay later.
She can take 20 days paid holiday per year excluding all other relevant public holidays. The family is going to the US over Christmas and New Years, the nanny is required to take at least 5 of her annual leave over that time and another 5 over summer (August 2022). The nanny is not required to go on holiday with the family, but we may go away for a weekend during the year and leave the kids with her for the whole weekend (paid).
We have a 5 bedroom house in Shepherds Bush and the nanny will have a private bedroom (with TV and the internet) and private bathroom on the top floor. Food, lodging and bills are included.
We would like to meet with candidates in person and will require references.
We would be happy to introduce you to our previous nannies and au-pair to get a feel for the family.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
Elizabeth.
