We’re Scandi Kitchen and we’re a nice cafe/deli near Oxford Circus. We are looking for a Barista to join us. We have a nice Linea 2 group and we serve Monmouth Coffee.
While you will be making lots of lovely coffee, this role also entails serving food to customers, helping out in our deli/shop and being a part of our nice team. We need you to be able to hit the ground running, so some experience is essential.
We're looking for:
- You make nice coffee. You care deeply about the coffee, but understand that it is not just about that: We are looking for a super nice person who can also add to the team in general and help out. It’s likely you have been making coffee for about a year (and if you have not been making coffee this long, you have a great passion for it and want to quickly learn and move up and can demonstrate this).
- You have brilliant interpersonal skills. You love a good chat with customers (we have many regulars who have been coming in for 10 years). Lots of lovely, genuine happy small talk. Great at connecting with people around you, you’re one to spread cheer and happiness all day long.
- Proactive – you get on with things, you have common sense. You don’t stand still.
Above all, you’re a team player.
Good to have:
• A Scandinavian language or knowledge of a Scandi language. Not essential, but a connection to the Northern lands is good. Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian - your knowledge of any of these a plus, but not essential.
• Any extra experience or knowledge of retail a plus.
• Knowing the lyrics to ‘She’s Got the Look’ always helps, as does a love of all things Eurovision.
- Good level of English and the right to live and work in the UK.
The cafe is open daily, so the shifts are either open (7:30 start) or closing (latest finish is 20:00). We are open 7 days a week, so there is some weekend work, too. This role is full time and is starting immediately.
The pay is in line with experience – likely around £8 to £8.50 an hour for good barista experience.
