Responsible To: General Manager
Job Function:
The main purpose of this job is to ensure the customer receives the highest quality of services and to assist the operational running of the bar and ensure that staff are fulfilling their duties to the best of their ability:
-To maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety.
- Ensure high standards and efficiency of work
- Maintain strict stock control.
Duties
1. Supervise the smooth running of the bars:
1.1. Ensure all venues open on time and that they are ready for business.
1.2. Ensure excellent front of house service, allocate and support staff throughout the shift to maintain speed of service and cleanliness of venue.
1.3. Keep staff busy and productive at all times.
1.4. Ensure staff meet the standards of the bars, addressing and correcting bad practice where need be.
1.5. Maintain back of house cleaning and stock room to a high standard.
1.6. Liaise on shift with kitchen staff to resolve problems and ensure great service.
1.7. Complete daily paperwork to ensure the safe running of the venues, and for those standards to be monitored and maintained throughout the shift.
1.8. Pre-empt and actively responding to problems that arise and keeping management up to date. 1.9. Ensure that the premises closes on time, end of day jobs completed to a high standard, staff are signed off promptly, all back and front of house areas checked and secured and that the premises is in excellent order for the next day’s service.
1.10. Identifies problems as they arise, resolving them where possible and appropriate, and reporting them as necessary
1.11. To clean and maintain all equipment and notify management of any issues.
1.12. Assist in cash handling procedures as required
1.13. Feedback on your shift to the managers and supervisor taking over.
1.14. Attend all staff meetings.
2. Stock and Financial Control Provide supervision and assist in the timely and accurate completion of tasks in relation to the following:
2.1 To follow all Till and Cashing up procedures and ensure all staff are following these correctly.
2.2 Detailed check of deliveries for accuracy and quality of product.
2.3 Ensuring stock is received and secured in cellars on delivery.
2.4 Ensure stock rotation is applied when storing deliveries and that the correct storage method is applied to each product.
2.5 Display stock levels should be monitored throughout your shift and replenished as required.
2.6 Recording any wastage
3. Assist in the training of bar staff:
3.1. Assist in induction days as required
3.2. Monitor new staff and allocate "shadows" for their first few shifts
3.3. Report back to the managers any areas where refresher training may be needed
3.4. Help coach and guide staff through.
3.5. Brief staff at the beginning of the night and debrief at the end
4. Health and Safety:
4.1. Ensure high standards of health and safety are maintained at all times
4.2. Complete required cleaning tasks in accordance with the Bars daily and weekly tasks sheet, ensuring the work has been completed to a high standard.
4.3. Ensure the storage areas are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
4.4. Ensure any faults or problems with equipment and the premises are reported.
4.5. Work in a way that minimises risks to the health and safety and security of self and others.
4.6. Ensure all cleaning products and any other substance that could cause a health risk is used according to the data sheet contained within the C.O.S.H.H folder for the premises.
4.7. To have a full understanding of the fire evacuation procedures for the premises.
5. Legislation and Company Policy:
5.1. To gain a personal license to sell alcohol within 3 months of acquiring the job.
5.2. To have a full understanding of the licensing law and all other legislation relevant to your role. 5.3. To understand and actively support all company policies relevant to your role, including Green Impact and Health and Safety Audit.
6. Personal Development:
6.1. Ensure personal mandatory training is up to date
6.2. With the help of others, review own work against the requirements for the role and identifies any development areas.
6.3. Identifies with reviewer additional development areas, which will provide support to the team.
