About the role
As the Bank Cook in one of our homes you will ensure the smooth running of this shift, this includes ensuring that our resident’s food needs are being met and that their wishes and expectations are being exceeded. This will involve carefully planning meals to ensure that they are of a high quality, content and appetizingly presented, and that food safety guidelines are followed at all times.
You will be responsible for the ordering of food stock and used to working with budgets when ordering ingredients from suppliers.
Your role will also involve supervising the Catering Assistants and ensuring that they understand their duties, and perform them to a high standard, this could also involve assisting with their training.
It is vital that you ensure that all appropriate records are in place in accordance with Environmental Health, and the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority Guidelines.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
• Ensure that all areas of the kitchen including storage areas are kept meticulously clean and tidy.
• Ensure that food is stored and cooked in accordance with Environmental
Health Regulations
• Check the quality of food items delivered to the kitchen i.e. Meat, fruit and
Vegetables, frozen food and stock rotation of provisions in refrigerators, freezers and store rooms.
• Use and clean all equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain a safe environment for residents.
• Adhere to the Fire Policy, COSHH Regulations and all other Health and Safety
Skills required
• experience of working in a kitchen environment
• Food hygiene certificate level 1 or 2.
• Build effective and trusting relationships with colleagues
• Be able to communicate with residents, relatives and colleagues in a constructive and respectful manner.
• Use positive and appropriate communication language and methods
