Place: Stoke Newington, North London

Full time assistant manager sought for speciality beer and food pub in Stoke Newington.
Starting salary: £26k, with a review after 3 months.
48 Hours per week
28 Days holiday
We are looking for an accomplished assistant manager who will be ready to take a general manager position within the next 6-12 months.
The Axe focusses on having the best beer, and serving it up with a modern, delicious food offer using high quality ingredients. We are both a locals’ pub and a destination place, with our weekends being especially busy, and our Sunday roasts proving to be very popular indeed.
We have 24 taps, and about 50 lines of bottles and cans. Our pricing structure allows us to sell the most exciting Beers at very reasonable prices. We are all about having a balanced and exciting and accessible beer list, with everything from chuggable session pales to barrel-aged saisons and impy stouts. We take quality of dispense and exactitude in cleaning seriously, believing that the responsibility for great beer ends at the point of swallowing, not the brewery gates.
Equally important is our relationship with our customers, in how we talk about our products and create a great atmosphere and community around the pub. Whether pouring a regular a sample of a freshly tapped IPA, slinging out 10 pints of Lager, introducing new styles of beer to someone eager to taste more, or debating the finer points of pediococcus with a fellow beer geek, we focus on approachable, friendly and efficient service. We support ongoing training and increase in product knowledge, with regular trips and training events with breweries and other friends in the Booze world.
The Axe is part of a small and growing company, with 5 sites currently, and another in the pipeline for some point this year, which provides plenty of opportunity for career progression and development. With this in mind, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and talented manager who is ready to grow with the company, and ideally has the following qualities:

1 Year or more experience as assistant manager.
Energy, drive and commitment
Great customer interaction
A passion for beer, Booze in general, and a deep interest in food.
experience with running busy shifts with lots of food going out.
Being able to manage a team in an amiable and cooperative manner, whilst retaining the ability to be firm when necessary.
Attention to detail
High productivity and task-juggling skills.
Effective time management
experience with ordering, invoice management and stock control.
Cellar management and maintenance skills
Great customer interaction
A proactive learner- seeking out knowledge and skills.

Please respond with a CV in a Word document or PDF, along with a covering letter explaining why you think you’d be great for this role.
