We are looking for an assistant manager to join our busy neighbourhood cafe. We are a not for profit organisation with the needs of our community as our focus.
We are Time Out London 2021 best cafe in Kilburn and West Hampstead Winners and are dedicated to bringing our customers the most delicious homemade food and locally roasted coffee.
Your main duties and responsibilities:
• Act as assistant to the café manager, working together to ensure the overall efficiency and smooth operation of the café.
• Supervise, support, train and motivate café staff.
• Take joint responsibility for all aspects of preparation for the café’s weekend trade, specifically preparation for the soft play parties.
• Administrative duties as specified by the café manager, to include devising staff rotas, stock ordering and control, food hygiene monitoring and recording.
• Deliver excellent customer service by setting standards for other staff, dealing efficiently and professionally with complaints and display excellent knowledge of the organisation as a whole and our policies and procedures.
• Ensure the café is safe, clean and hygienic at all times in compliance with legislation, café policies and procedures and reporting systems.
• Perform checks and follow procedures to ensure all staff and the physical building are prepared for weekend trade and parties.
• To undertake other duties as may be reasonably required
Your experience:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in hospitality - to include specific experience in the following; food preparation and cooking, coffee making, stock management, quality control, use of till systems.
A minimum of 3 years of staff management and proven leadership abilities - to include experience of motivating, training, supporting a staff team and being a positive member of a senior management team.
Delivering excellent customer service – you must be able to demonstrate your abilities in this area, how you would set an example for other staff, deal with queries and complaints and have a good understanding of the customer experience.
Your skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to develop good relationships with customers, suppliers and staff. To employ diplomacy, tact and act in a professional manner at all times.
Proven organisational skills - the ability to plan, problem solve, multi task and have an excellent eye for detail.
Adaptable to the work environment - you must be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure, work in both a team and independently.
Training and development – you must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems and follow policies and procedures.
Your knowledge:
Level 2 Food Hygiene Course
Working knowledge of health and safety requirements
Personal License Holder
