Assembly operator
Department overview
The department manufactures a wide range of products associated with sword fencing equipment.
From scoring apparatus, to inside guard sockets, spools and body wires. There is quiet a broad range of manufacture and assembly processes within the department.
The role
To manufacture and assembly a range of electro mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies. In the main this will be done using small mechanical and electrical hand tools.
Production must be consistent and comply with the standards set both in terms of output rate and quality.
You will be trained on each process and product gradually until you have attained a suitable consistent standard.
Key duties
The manufacture of basic mechanical assemblies using basic hand tools.
The manufacture of electrical plugs / cable assemblies using basic hand tools.
The servicing of our hire fleet which is mainly a visual inspection and re-wrapping of cables.
Processes include:
Soldering, wiring, crimping, riveting, plastic injection moulding, drilling.
Small component assembly and packing.
Mechanical assembly using small hand tools.
Qualifications
As a minimum, the candidate must have passed an elementary level of English and maths.
Must demonstrate you can speak, read and write English as a primary function to be able to give and receive instructions and communicate effectively without confusion.
Skills
Must be physically fit and capable of lifting 25kg regularly and without any issues.
Should be nimble and dextrous with their hands and an eye for detail.
Be capable of producing a good repeatable quality work at an efficient sustainable rate.
Be keen to learn, with a ‘can do approach’.
Fundamentally believe in a culture of ‘continuous improvement’ and own their responsibilities with a passion.
Reporting to: Works manager
Hours: Mon – Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm
with a 15min break in the morning and 30 minutes for lunch.
Friday 8:00am to 2:00pm with a 15 min break in the morning.
Hourly rate: between £8.00 and £9.50 / hr depending upon previous experience.
Pay: The employee’s salary is paid monthly directly into their bank account on or before the last Friday of each calendar month.
Bonus: There is a companywide Christmas bonus.
Holiday: 20 days per year plus bank holidays
Pension: Obligatory state pension scheme only.
