As an Art Handling / Property Receiving Technician you will be responsible for the following:
• This role is for an experienced Art Handler / Technician who is able to do heavy lifting and possesses excellent people skills.
• You will be in charge of moving, hanging and storing an extensive range of art and objects.
• Exceptional care in handling, movement, storage and packing of property with your primary focus and goal being the safety of both people and property at all times.
• A high level of personal presentation at all times and compliance with the department dress code.
• Follow all company procedures in accordance with the procedures manual.
• Responsible for arrivals area and all property that is received at the auction house.
• Keeping our inventory system (GAP) up to date with stock processing and collection management.
• Accurate labelling and locating of property.
• Ensure all incidents, accidents, damages or losses are reported to your manager immediately and an accident report form completed.
• Meet all deadlines for preparation of sales for exhibition and transport, including planning and communication with all sale specialists and valuers.
• Assist sales set ups, views and breakdowns.
• Provide exceptional client service, both internally and externally.
• Multi-functional and able to work in any site area.
• Excellent communication with other departments.
• Maintain a high level of security at all times.
• Adhere to all health and safety requirements.
• Demonstrate an understanding of personal responsibility for the health and safety at work of self and others and carry out risk assessments.
• Work at height on ladders and mechanical platforms.
Qualifications:
• Preferably previous experience in handling art works for a museum, auction house, gallery or fine art shipping logistics company.
• Safety first attitude and exceptional care in handling and security of client’s property.
• Excellent client service skills.
• Flexible approach to work. Able to work Saturdays.
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to work well within a team and a proven ability to communicate well with clients and staff from other departments.
• Enthusiastic, honest, highly self-motivated and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Very high level of attention to detail and organization skills.
• General computer literacy.
• Able to undertake frequent heavy lifting.
• Full clean and current driving license an advantage.
Salary £18,000-20,000 dependant on age and experience.
