We are a busy picture framing business based in Putney, currently a team of four. We are looking for a young person to join us as an apprentice.
Skills required:
• Good practical abilities, you must have some skills in making
things, even at a basic level, such as bike building or maintenance, crafts, (pottery, paper/card models, Lego kits, sewing etc.)
• Good level of communication skills
• Excellent telephone manner
• Ability to build good relationships
• Knowledge of Mac OS. Computer literacy, specifically basic understanding and usage of Excel.

• Personable
• Motivated and keen to learn new skills
Qualifications:
• 5 GCSE’s grades C or above or equivalent, to include, DT or Art or other GCSE involving practical skills
As a picture framing apprentice you will be instructed in all the techniques of framing, including:
• Framing standards, from ‘everyday’ to ‘museum quality’
Practical manufacturing skills such as:
• Cutting single, double, multi-window Mounts
• Cutting undermounts and backboards
• Stretching an artwork on canvas onto stretcher bars
• Distinguishing between various types of artwork and knowing when conservation framing is appropriate
• Hinging and framing to conservation standards
You will also be trained in every aspect of the workflow:
• Meeting and greeting customers
• Discussing their requirements
• Documenting the agreed components of their frame
• Ordering materials and checking them in on arrival
• Making the frame
• Liaising with the customer on completion of the work
• Invoicing and payment
