My client, a busy stationary company based in Stamford Hill, North London, is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their small team. You will need to be highly organised and accurate with an excellent telephone manner.
The role involves maintaining financial records using Sage and checking to ensure payments, amounts and records are correct. The role also includes credit control and chasing outstanding payments. A good eye for detail is required along with a methodical approach to working.
Hours of work: Monday-Thursday 9am-5.30pm and Friday 9am-4pm
Type of contract: Permanent
Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 per annum, depending on experience
Benefits: 28 days paid holiday
Accounts Assistant main duties:
• Process receipts, invoices, delivery and credit notes
• Ensure financial records are kept up to date and accurate
• Regularly review accounts receivable aging; control credit and chase debt
• Process payments
• Work with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals
• Reconcile financial accounts
• Complete VAT return forms
• Answer the telephone, direct calls and relay messages, dealing with enquiries as appropriate
• Assist with preparation of year end accounts
• Filing and maintain files in an orderly fashion
Accounts Assistant requirements:
• Previous accounts administration experience including credit control
• Excellent knowledge of Sage 50
• Strong computer skills, fully conversant with all relevant software applications (MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Accurate with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner
• Organised and efficient, able to multi-task and demonstrate strong time-management skills
• Able to use own initiative and demonstrate a common sense approach to office duties
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and remain professional at all times
• A willingness to take on new tasks
