ABA Tutor Tuesday and Thursday in Chelsea

Posted: 83 days ago
Place: Chelsea, off King's road, nearest tube station is Sloane Square

Hello there.
My name is Gitte Hart. We have an 11-year-old son who attends a mainstream primary school in Chelsea, SW3.
Our son is a fun-loving, hard-working and increasingly independent boy who enjoys school and 1-1 sessions with his tutors, however needs support with understanding concepts, tasks and non-structured social scenarios.
He has a lovely team with two other tutors who are working with our son using VB/ABA and social thinking strategies as well as SLT approaches to support him in school.
We meet 6 to 8-weekly for supervision with our ABA consultant, Dawn Sullivan, who leads the team. We are currently focusing on programs such as 'superflex', 'zones of regulation' and 'social thinking'. We have tutors' meetings when required to discuss ways to implement the program and to ensure consistency and to build good working relationships between tutors.
We will be having Tuesdays and Thursdays available from February 2022, however, meeting to do pairing, shadowing and getting to know each other should start earlier.
We live in Balham area, SW17.
An up-to-date DBS check is essential to us and to the school.
Above all, we look for a person who is able to develop a good connection with our son and has the desire and ability to work flexibly, practically and creatively to deliver a social thinking orientated program.
To break this down a bit further:
We are looking to employ an open-minded tutor with excellent skills in.
- Positively engaging with our son as well as the other children in his class,
- Work considerately and flexibly with other professionals within the team of tutors, staff at the school as well as external professionals (such as our SLT consultant who regularly meets Anders to give advise on strategies to put in place for him).
The tutor we are looking for also has
- Excellent communication skills,
- Reflects on best practice possible at any given time,
- Shares concerns,
- Asks questions
- Takes an active part in supporting one another with focus on developing best practice to - as a team - reach the best possible outcomes for our son.
All people in our team
- Share responsibilities of practical tasks, including myself and Dawn Sullivan.
- Communicate clearly to one another through whatsapp and written notes to keep everyone informed and work ticking over nicely.
If this sounds like the dream team to you,
Please do get in touch!
We hope to hear from you soon,
Gitte.
