We are a small busy family in the vibrant neighbourhood of Peckham looking for a Head Chef to join our team!
Your responsibilities will include the below.
Food safety and standards:
We are super keen on standards and so want anyone joining us to be the same. Clean and organised, with a good understanding of food safety standards.
- High cleaning standards within the kitchen
- Daily checklists and records
- HACCP
Recipe development:
We want someone who is as passionate about food as we are. The Head Chef will be given plenty of freedom to dream up new dishes and make tweaks to existing ones. If you want to make your mark on a menu, this is the place to do it! We have access to all sorts of interesting Taiwanese (and other Asian) ingredients for you to play with.
- Create new and exciting recipes for our specials board
- Make changes to menu over time
Running the kitchen:
- Shift management, and scheduling the kitchen Rota
- Hiring of new kitchen team members
- Training of kitchen team
- Ordering from suppliers
- Margin management
- Prep. Schedule handling
- Wastage reduction
We want to teach you one main skill while you’re working at Mr Bao that will benefit you for life. That is Active Listening. At Mr Bao we want to constantly remind ourselves to listen, actively to our customers, to our team mates and to every important person in our lives. Actively listening to people means making a conscious effort to listen to what they say, not just waiting until they finish talking before starting talking ourselves!
It makes people feel special and it could improve your relationship with every person you actively listen to.
