Executive Assistant to Chief Executive

Who are we?
AccountAbility is an innovative and friendly organisation working in an exciting, continually evolving, environment. We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting accountability for sustainable development through a mixture of research and services, advocacy, standards and training. Uniquely placed as the leading advocate of accountability solutions for business, civil society and the public sector, we partner some of the most extraordinary people and organisations, such as the World Economic Forum, Harvard's Kennedy School, Brazil's Instituto Ethos, the World Bank, and our many members. We have over 200 members (both organisations and individuals) in 20 countries across 5 continents, working with global companies.
Who are we looking for?
This is a fun, interactive and challenging role, which on the one hand consists of complex diarisation issues and organising overseas travel, and on the other will require you to act on behalf of the Chief Executive, Simon Zadek, internally and within our governance structure. We are looking for an individual who is keen to develop a long-term working partnership with Simon, ensuring efficient handling of his work schedule and having an interest in engaging in the content side of the work. You will therefore be highly organised, responsive and have experience of working at a senior level. There will be areas of your work that will be confidential and you will be able to handle matters with sensitivity and control.
The office itself is an exciting and chaotic environment, which is multi-national and multi-lingual. This role will involve you working with and amongst the whole team, although Simon travels approximately one third of the time. You will therefore be an outgoing and self-motivated individual, who is very people-orientated and who enjoys working in a small team environment.
Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following attributes:
 Values-driven and Committed – All of the AccountAbility team are committed to the values and purpose of AccountAbility as an organisation as well as a concept. You will therefore be an individual to whom values are important and you will want to work within an organisation that you can commit to for the longer term, helping to grow and shape the organisation.
 Articulate – On many occasions you will act on Simon's behalf, both internally and externally, and will therefore be able to articulate your thoughts and requests in a professional yet effective manner.
 Keen interest in Sustainability issues – You will demonstrate knowledge of issues in this area, and will be keen to learn further, allowing you to effectively undertake the role.
 Flexible – With Simon regularly travelling internationally, you will be flexible both in terms of hours and working style in order to respond to immediate issues.
 Disciplined – Working with Simon, you will ensure that time is effectively and efficiently managed, whilst also managing the team's (and others) expectations.
 E-literate – We are now increasingly utilising more IT products to enable effective virtual working, i.e. internet telephony, web-logs, web-cams etc. You will therefore be computer literate and have an interest in developing this way of working.
What does the role involve?
Your contribution to our work will include, but is not limited to enabling Simon to be effective by:
 Management of Simon's diary, including managing all communications and appointments.
 Organisation of Simon's travel schedules, including meetings, travel and accommodation and related expenses management.
 Providing a link between Simon and the team.
 Supporting Simon's inputs to projects and programmes.
 Management of diary of Honorary President, Anwar Ibrahim.
 Organising Governance meetings and providing first line support to Operating Board and Council members as required.
Conditions of Employment
A The position, which is available immediately, is permanent and full-time, and will be based in London, UK. The successful applicant will be expected to live within commuting distance from AccountAbility's offices in London
B AccountAbility is a flexible employer and operates a flexitime policy.
C Remuneration will be competitive and consistent with a small, dynamic, growing professional institution in this field.
How do I apply?
D To apply for this position, please email a ‘letter of application' to Erika Collinson, Management Services Coordinator, complete with a full C.V. Your letter of application should clearly outline the skills and attributes you would bring to this role, when you would be able to take up the post and your salary expectations. Please send to people@accountability21.net Closing date for applications is 29th February 2008.
