Principle Highways Engineer

Role
A joint partnership between two leading consultancies, they currently act in a ‘Managing Agent' role for the Highways Agency's Area 3 Commission. The job will involve being part of a group delivering major renewal schemes. Typically, these schemes can be up to GBP5m in value and involve the renewal of carriageways, safety barriers, drainage etc on motorways and trunk roads.
Candidates should be familiar with the preparation of contract documents to NEC requirements. Their experience should include a proven history of project management of teams of highway design engineers and a thorough working knowledge of the DMRB, MCDHW and TSR&GD.; The successful candidate will also be expected to demonstrate familiarity with current systems procedures concerning Quality Assurance, Health and Safety requirements and the CDM Regulations.
Knowledge of some or all of the following highway design software will be an advantage:
MX(MOSS), MICRODRAINAGE, AUTOSIGN, AUTOLINE, AUTOTRACK and ARCADY.
The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the highway schemes under their control, including design, contract documentation, project and financial management and liaison with the Highways Agency.
Skills/Requirements
· Chartered Engineer
· Considerable experience in highway related work
· Experience in managing schemes, programmes and budgets
· Ability to engender good client relationships
· Ability to manage a design team
· Effective communication skills
Salary - GBP45,000 + (Negotiable on experience)
